How to Create a Whimsical Mixed Media Watercolour Leaves Birthday Card Tutorial

I started by using my better press to create the leaves and sentiments, Then I cut down the cardstock I plan to use as my matte layer. I have an A2-sized base which is 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 and the matte was cut down to be 1/4 of an inch smaller than the base. I ran the matte through my die-cutting machine with a 3D embossing folder for added texture and interest.


Next, I brought out my favourite watercolours and painted different colours into each leaf, I tried for more fall-feeling colours so this could be a fall Birthday card. Once I was happy with the colours I used the matching dies and die-cut out the leaves so I would be able to layer them up for a fun look. I brought in a small piece of cheesecloth to go under the leaves to add some extra texture and to help the leaves stand out against the matte.


After adhering everything with either liquid glue or foam tape I splattered on a little silver ink then added some Chocolate Brown pearls and called this card done. I love how this card turned out and hope you enjoy seeing it come together.
